RiNGLEY brings the best of both worlds

Teething babies are grumpy. They are irritable and picky and want nothing to do with most of the remedies you have for them. Honestly, you can't blame them too much. It can't be fun having teeth push their way through your gums. But how do you figure out what teething toy is best for your baby? What if you aren't crazy about handing your baby silicone or plastic, or any other number of materials teething toys are made from? That's where RiNGLEY comes into play.

RiNGLEY toys are made of all natural materials - organic cotton and pine. The cotton is nice and soft for babies that like soft chew toys - and it can be easily washed or made cold by getting it damp and placing in the fridge or freezer. Each RiNGLEY toy also includes a pine teething ring, for babies that need something hard to gnaw on and get those teeth to make the final push through.

As you can see, Hayden loves her elephant ZooLEY, and your baby could find the RiNGLEY love too! You can purchase a RiNGLEY ZooLEY for $24.99 or, you could win one below!!!

LT - Lil' Tulip's and Little Teethers

When texting back and forth, the staff here at Lil' Tulip's often shortens it to LT. But this past month, LT has taken on a new meaning for both of the Lil' Tulip's babies... they are both Little Teethers. And as any parent who's been through teething before knows, having an LT in your house is no fun at all.

Hayden started her teething journey while Beth and her kids were at HQ. The timing couldn't have been better because Beth had easy access to ALL of the teething toys we carry, so Hayden had her pick! Beth and Hayden ended up going home with almost all of the teethers we carry, but we catch her with her Como Tomo teether the most often!
Baby Van wasn't far behind Hayden. He's now working on some teeth and loves his Como Tomo just as much as Hayden loves hers!
Babies love chewing on their fingers, so Como Tomo designed their teether to mimic those little fingers, each of the prongs is just about the size of a baby finger. The ring design makes it easy for little hands to hold onto the teether... but don't worry, if it gets dropped it's also super easy to clean! Made of 100% medical grade silicone, these teethers are resistant to heat, which means you can toss it in boiling water or the dishwasher to clean it off after it (inevitably) gets dropped on the floor in the messiest of places.

Indeed, the Como Tomo Teethers are approved by both Lil' Tulip's LTs ;) Now it's your turn to try one out! If you have a Little Teether at home, enter this giveaway for your chance to win a Como Tomo teether of your own!

Get Naked - or at least feel like you did

So you've had the baby. HOORAY! And now you're almost back to your pre-pregnancy weight (or not) and all excited because all those clothes that have been sitting in your closet for over 9 months will finally start to fit again. HOORAY!!! Except then you start getting dressed in the mornings, and if you're anything like me, you will quickly realize that just because clothes fit again doesn't mean you can wear them again. As a breastfeeding mother, I need to be able to access my breasts and the truth is, not all shirts were created with that goal in mind.

Before your heart totally breaks about the fact that you still can't wear half your wardrobe until you're finished breastfeeding, allow us to introduce the perfect solution. The Naked Tank.

The Naked Tank gives you the option to turn any shirt into a nursing shirt. To the outside world, it looks like you have a tank top on underneath your shirt, but in reality it sits just below your breasts so that there is no extra bulk from the tank when you go to nurse your baby. You can lift any shirt up to breastfeed comfortably while keeping that nice, flat tummy the baby left you with hidden ;) As you can see, my style is no longer limited to nursing clothes. I just add my Naked Tank and can wear whatever I want over it!!

Check out the Naked Tank today... what will you wear it with?

The Shower Hug - A giveaway!

As a breastfeeding mom, I can go on and on about the trials of sore boobs!! I'll spare you all the details, but if you're pregnant or nursing you probably already know - it hurts!! Need to ease the pain? Try out the Shower Hug!

If you're interested in more information, check out this great interview on San Diego's NBC, which provides a lot more information about the background of the Shower Hug company!

Want just the simple facts?? Here ya' go!!

The Shower Hug is a Multifaceted Breastfeeding tool, one purchase of $27.95 can provide many functions both in and out of the shower throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding.

* the Shower Hug provides gentle non restrictive breast support for full and engorged breasts.  As any nursing mother will tell you, having your milk come in is beyond painful unless you (like I did this time!) have a nursing toddler that's happy to give you some relief whenever and wherever you need it! Mom's (even 3rd timers like me!) often don't have a proper fitting nursing bra, because who knows how large your breasts will be when your milk comes in and we know an ill fitting bra means trouble regardless of nursing or not, though while nursing an improperly fitted bra can lead to even more serious issues like mastitis or clogged ducts!

* the Shower Hug acts as a warm compress to soothe tender engorged breasts. Also great for helping with letdown before pumping. Especially good for those mom's who may have had to leave baby in the NICU for a few days but really want to establish their breastfeeding. The Shower Hug is awesome when mom has a clogged duct or mastitis. It provides comfortable warm compress while showering or bathing.

* shields tender breasts and nipples from the harsh shower stream - this is helpful during pregnancy or after, so get the Shower Hug while you're pregnant and continue using it throughout your pregnancy and after birth when your breasts are especially tender!

* the Shower Hug is a great alternative to a traditional nursing bra for soft, comfortable support. Strap free design relieves pressure on the shoulders.  A great bedtime nursing bra!

Blueberry Trainers - Pick your Print!!

As you may remember, we've been trying out trainers in our house the past couple months! My daughter is on the smaller side for potty training-  at almost 2 (just 2 more weeks!!) she is 27lbs, and a VERY slim waist with extra chunky thighs. Today, I want to talk a little about the Blueberry Trainers Training Pants.

Blueberry gives you by far the most selection when it comes to color and prints - solid colors, stripes, or awesome prints are all available, so just pick what you like best or get one of each!
So how do they work? Pretty darn well. I do find these to be a bit bulkier than some of the other trainers we tried, but that may have more to do with the fact that I have a very petite lady wearing them than any actual "fault" of the diaper. The trainers are pretty absorbent, but - like most trainers - won't contain an entire accident. When leaving the house with a blueberry trainer on, I still find myself bringing an extra pair of pants just in case.

The inner of the Blueberry trainers feels the closest to underwear of all the trainers we've tried. I particularly like this feature because having never done this before, I don't really know how you're supposed to make the transition from trainers to underwear, and I'm thinking having a similar feel can only help!

I would absolutely recommend the Blueberry Trainers to friends and family - especially those with larger kids at potty training time. The cute factor can't be beat, they are still fantastically functional, and at just $15.95 each won't break the bank.

Smart Bottoms Trainers -

If you remember from a couple weeks ago, I potty trained my little lady recently, and have been spending some time getting to know many of the different trainers we carry here at Lil' Tulips. This week, I want to spend some time introducing you to the Smart Bottoms Lil' Trainers!

At not quite 2, my daughter is still growing into her body. She has majorly big chunky thighs and a pretty tiny waist. This made finding a trainer that fit her extremely difficult. Most of the trainers we've tried have worked, but are obviously a little on the larger side - bulky, and might even possibly leak at the legs if her thighs were any smaller. Everything stays up on her, but it seems clear to us that most of them would fit better on a child a little bigger than ours. The Lil Trainer is a much more petite trainer. It's a sized diaper, so I'm sure the larger sizes would fit larger children, but the small is absolutely perfect for my little love.

The trainer is pretty simple, and I was worried it wouldn't work for us at first. It's very similar to the diapers we had her in before potty training in that she ends up with bamboo against her skin. The trainer has a snap in bamboo booster, though I'm not sure you could ever use it without the "booster."

Smart Bottoms gives two majorly adorable print options - one that's pretty boyish and one that's pretty darn girlish. Both are incredibly adorable. I absolutely adore the jungle theme - that's still incredibly girly - on the girl's diaper!
As far as functionality goes - this is the only trainer that we've used that hasn't had a single pants change. In the rest, if she doesn't stop herself and just lets all of her pee out, she usually needs a new pair of pants as well, but the Smart Bottoms are able to hold the entire thing without getting her pants damp. Although I was worried about it being too close to her diapers, she seems to have made the distinction perfectly - I'm assuming because it is so much smaller than her diapers.

Overall, the Smart Bottoms Lil Trainer is my favorite of ones I've been trying out. I reach for it first and would probably recommend it to anyone getting ready to potty train.

Homemade Play Dough

Kids love play dough. It's fun and surprisingly, it's incredibly easy to make at home! Jenny, the owner of Lil' Tulips made some last week with her 3 girls and they absolutely loved it!! Here's the recipe she used: Play Dough

With only a few ingredients, the family didn't even need to go out to the store to make this!
Jenny and the girls used the Tovolo Spatula to mix everything up, which made sure none of the ingredients went wasted!

Once everything was totally mixed together, they had Play Dough!! With a simple change of food colorings, there were plenty of different colors, and all that was left was the need to play a little, and so - that's exactly what Jenny and the girls did!

Having been through the fun once, Jenny suggested packing away some of the already made Play Dough and only handing out smaller portions at a time. To store their leftovers, Jenny used Baby Cubes Food Storage Cubes. These storage cubes are designed for baby food (obviously), but they make fantastic gifts because there are so many different options of what to store in them!! And for parents that do make their own food, there's obviously no reason to get rid of your storage cubes once baby has switched to table food!!

Will you be making Play Dough sometime soon? We'd love to see some pictures on our facebook page if you decide to!!

EcoPosh Trainers - soft but sturdy

As a pregnant mama, I decided it would be nice to potty train my (almost 2 year old) daughter well before the new baby gets here. I figured that would give her time to really get it down pat before her baby brother or sister arrives and her little world is so dramatically changed. She had also been showing some signs of being ready, she'd ell us as soon as (or during) she went in her diaper and would often wake up from naps or even overnight dry. With my older son, we did a three day method that was immensely successful, so we decided to do the same with my daughter. What I hadn't counted on was that her being so young, the method didn't work quite as well. We got her 98% of the way trained within 3 days, but I still lacked the confidence in her to go out in public without seriously overpacking extra changes of clothes, and often even putting a diaper cover over her underwear "just in case."

Since I have this fantastic resource at my fingertips, I decided to try out a few different cloth training pants and see if they would help or hurt our progress, and my confidence in my daughter. Upon recieving the trainers, I was absolutely amazed how soft the EcoPosh Bamboo was. I've been using bamboo diapers for over 3 years (between 2 kids) so the softness of bamboo shouldn't have been a shock, but using a bamboo blend inside of a trainer provides an EVEN SOFTER fabric to put against your child's skin. Seriously, the folks at Kanga Care (makers of rump a rooz and EcoPosh) need to come out with adult sized underwear made of the same stuff they use inside the trainers. It is to die for soft.

After quite a few washes, the EcoPosh trainer has remained soft and is remarkably good at holding it's form. With 3 different sizes you'll be able to find something that fits your child, and assuming you don't order like a crazy person, it will fit well. As I mentioned, my daughter is 99% of the way to being fully trained, but we've still used the EcoPosh a few times for it's intended purpose. So far, it's one of the most absorbent trainers we've used. I have a pretty heavy wetter, and the EcoPosh is able to catch everything without needing a change of pants. It's my favorite trainer to use when we are in the car because I know that even if she tells me she needs to go and I can't find a spot to stop we won't need a new outfit if and when she has an accident.

I'd highly suggest the EcoPosh trainer for beginner potty trainers - when accidents are more likely to happen, or for help with training overnight. The diaper-like absorbancy provides for peace of mind while still putting an underwear-like option on your child.
